Planet of Exile, Book 4 in the Hainish Cycle, Ursula K. LeGuin (Ace Double, 1966 {Blackstone Audio, Narrator: Carrington MacDuffie and Steven Hove})

Planet of Exile by Ursula K. LeGuin is the stand alone fourth book in her wonderful Hainish Cycle. The flow of language in this novel is wonderful and adds to the story, which is one of her most tense and gripping. I highly recommend this to any reader, even if they may not like Science Fiction as a whole. For a more in depth review see http://www.sophyanempire.wordpress.com Continue reading

Dispossessed, Ursula K. LeGuin (EOS, first published 1974, rp – 2001)

Winner of the Hugo, Nebula World Fantasy and National Book Awards, The Dispossessed by Ursula K. LeGuin remains one of the best reads I’ve enjoyed, regardless of genre. It is the story of an alien physicist and his life on both the anarcho-communist lunar colony in which he was born, and on the aggressively hegemonic state of his home world. A wonderful read that I would recommend to anyone. Continue reading

City of Illusion, Ursula K. LeGuin (Ace 1967) {Blackstone Audio 2007, Narrator: Stefan Rudniki}

City of Illustion is a Sci-Fi classic, that follows the tale of a fully grown man who wakes up in a forest with no memories at all. He does not even know how to speak. His only clue to his identity arehis cat-like yellow eyes. This is a wonderful tale told brilliantly, and recently re-released as an exceptional audiobook.
