The Forever War, Joe Haldeman (St. Martin’s Press, 1974)

The Forever War is the classic future soldier’s story by Joe Haldeman and serves as one of the two pillars upon which Military Science Fiction stands. Inspired by Haldeman’s experiences in the Vietnam War, it not only tells the harrowing tale of men and women at war, it also tells one of the best tales of the difficulty of returning from war that can be found regardless of genre. This is truly a marvelous book that should really be read by anyone. For more go to http://www.sophyanempire.wordpress.com
