Century Rain, Alistair Reynolds (ACE Books/Gollancz)

Century Rain is a noir espionage novel of the Cold War variety, with nanotech death machines and wormholes to give it a new twist. Though not Reynold’s best work, I enjoyed it thoroughly once I realized that any similarities to his other books is purely superficial. I really enjoyed this book, and I promise it has nothing to do with the fact that one of the protagonists is an archaeologist (though that didn’t hurt). Continue reading
