The King of the Vagabonds by Neal Stephenson, is a fun if improbable alternative historic romp across 17th century Europe. It is the highly enjoyable second installment in the Baroque Cycle, and though it does not pick up at the end of the cliff-hanger end of the first book it is a fun and brilliant read in its own right.
