Germline – The Subterrene War: Book 1, T.C. McCarthy (Orbit, 2011)

Germline is the lackluster, near future Military Science Fiction novel by T.C. McCarthy that serves as the first in the Subterrene War series. Written from the POV of a war correspondent, it has an interesting premise, but sparse descriptions and an unsympathetic narrator failed to really pull me in. The Wool Omnibus, Hugh Howey (Broad Reach Publishing, 2012)

The Wool Omnibus by Hugh Howey is one of the great examples of self-publishing done right. Fire with Fire, Charles E. Gannon (Baen, 2013)

Fire with Fire is the first in what promises to be an exciting new series by Charles E. Gannon. A cross genre book that combines elements of Spy Thriller and Space Opera, the book comes down more on the Sci-Fi side of things, but makes for a good adventure story. Continue reading
