A Game of Thrones: Book One of A Song of Ice and Fire, George R. R. Martin (Voyager {HarpurCollins, 1996 {Random House Audio, 2011, Narrator: Roy Dotrice)
A Game of Thrones by George R. R. Martin is an epic high fantasy novel that changed the face of its genre. The first truly post-modern of its kind, it is a compelling read with strong characters. It and its many sequels are, however, cliff-hangers and so may well not appeal to those who actively dislike fantasy. For more go to http://www.sophyanempire.wordpress.com Continue reading

A Dance with Dragons: A Song of Fire and Ice Book Five, George R.R. Martin (Bantam Books, 2011). FULL REVIEW
When I posted my Page 419 pre-review review of A Dance with Dragons I had really had hoped that the remaining 600 pages of the book would redeem this volume. Sadly, it did not. Things do happen in this book, but it not enough to justify 1100 pages. At this stage, I would highly recommend that one waits for the series to be complete before picking up any additional volumes. A Dance with Dragons: Page 419 and no end in sight
This is an atypical post for me, because it is not truly a review of the book. At page 419 — a veritable number of pages that would have seen me to the end of most books, I am now actually only just over 1/3rd of the way through this novel. It would be totally unfair to review a book that is not completed, however, I found myself in desperate need to express an opinion: GET ON WITH IT!!!!
