Strings on a Shadow Puppet Release to be Delayed

Due to the tragic events at the Sandy Hook Elementary School this past Friday, I have decided to delay the release of Strings on a Shadow Puppet, for at least one month.  I have been toiling away from sometime to ensure a Christmas release date for my first novel, however, given the nature of the opening scene of the book, it seems inappropriate and disrespectful to do so at this time.

I posted the first scene some time ago on this site, so many of you already know the prologue involves a terrorist attack on an elementary school.  I portrayed this because it was the most horrible scene I could imagine.  Indeed, I even thought it perhaps a bit over the top; now I wish it had been.

I considered changing that scene, but as was too clearly demonstrated on Friday, violence like that does happen, and failure to illustrate it does not make it any less real.  As a result, I intend to delay the release of the book about one month.

As a brief aside, I will also note that not only do I know the Sandy Hook area of Newtown CT, I even proposed to my wife there.  Now, lest anyone forget, or think this is about me, I will once more post a list of the victims of the Sandy Hook tragedy.  Let us remember them and their families first and foremost.

About Thomas Evans

I'm a writer of mysteries, espionage, and speculative fiction. In my previous incarnation I was an archaeologist specializing in gender and identity in Iron and Bronze Age Europe. Mostly, however, I was known for my works with the use of geomatics, multiscalular spatial analysis and landscape theory within archaeology.
